Care Tips

Putting Your Best Face Forward

Facial skin is delicate and the products you use on your face can make a big difference if you have sensitive skin. Avoiding products that contain fragrances, soap, and alcohol can help reduce irritation and improve the overall appearance and health of the skin. Follow these basic facial skin care tips to keep your skin looking smooth and healthy.

  • Cleanse your face every morning with lukewarm water to avoid removing natural oils.
  • Use a gentle and mild cleanser formulated for facial use. Avoiding chemical irritants means less facial breakouts.
  • Don’t over scrub. The American Academy of Dermatology suggests that you should only use your fingertips to apply a cleanser.
  • Don’t over exfoliate. You can create more irritation to sensitive skin. Limit exfoliating to once or twice a week.
  • Pat your face dry using a clean towel. Rubbing can cause irritation.
  • Always apply a good moisturizer within minutes after cleansing to hold in moisture.
  • Use a broad spectrum sunscreen with at least a SPF 30 or more to protect your skin from the sun’s damaging UVA/UVB rays.
  • Be sure to cleanse your face before bedtime to remove dirt and grime and always apply a moisturizer.
  • Get a good night’s sleep.
  • Change your pillowcase frequently, at least once a week.
